Engineer IV, Product and System Engineer with Additive Technologies LLC (Durham, NC) Validate part quality metrics as systems process engineer through hardware and software changes. Collect long-term reliability data on part quality from 3D printing systems to ensure customer satisfaction on the parts generated from the product. Own the operation, retrofit, and updates on a complex 3D printing system, including successful printing time and identifying and logging key issues during operation. Lead efforts to identify system parameters that affect part quality. Engage with teams such as design, engineering, and SI to raise appropriate remediation tasks. Utilize experience in operation of complex 3D printers and build prototypes using metal 3D printers and CNC machines. Evaluate current quality control processes and make recommendations for improvements in quality. Analyze printing processes, schedules, methods, and other data, and then collaborate to provide the broader engineering team with reports containing the data and statistics to enable future requirements needed for the system. Specialize in the working and troubleshooting of a subsystem of the printer. Ensure that the printing processes and post-processes follow all safety and other regulations. Analyze and plan workflow, equipment placement, and space requirements to improve printing efficiency with utmost quality and effectiveness. Coordinate equipment maintenance and repair services to ensure that procedures and instructions are followed in order to keep printing equipment operational. Document all testing, recommendations, processes in SOP. Demonstrate processes while explaining analysis in real time for partners and customers. Contribute to the lab, machine, and business objectives. Requirements: Requires a Master’s in Mechanical Engineering or related field. Position requires 3 years’ experience. Must have some experience in each of the following skills: Slurry Jetting and Liquid Metal Jetting; Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA); Development of printing and post process parameters for specific applications and materials; Printing Machine Validation, Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) and Site Acceptance Test (SAT); CNC and gcode; Troubleshoot and Root cause system failures and part quality defects; Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T); Imaging techniques including Optical measuring machines, Surface profilers, and Digital microscopes; Technical writing (SOP, Work Instructions, and Traveler).
