Principal Engineer – Electrical Engineering (Power)

Location: Barrow-In-Furness (Hybrid) – Enjoy a flexible work environment with 2 days onsite every fortnight and 1 day a week at Filton, depending on business needs.

Salary: Up to £57,500, tailored to your skills and experience.

As a Principal Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping innovative electrical engineering solutions. Your responsibilities will include:

• Crafting design solutions that meet project milestones in terms of time, cost, and quality.
• Managing requirements and acceptance criteria for systems or products across various platforms.
• Understanding contractual and performance requirements, supporting design through to commissioning.
• Producing essential documentation for design reviews, including diagrams and technical specifications.
• Providing technical support for integrated performance and acceptance activities.
• Assisting in estimating scope and resources for bids and project planning.
• Supporting Certificate of Design activities and presenting complex technical arguments clearly.
• Delivering engineering solutions for build activities, defect resolution, and change management.

We’re looking for candidates who bring a wealth of knowledge and experience:

• BEng (Hons) / MEng or equivalent, with CEng status or the ability to meet CEng requirements.
• Proven experience in the engineering lifecycle.
• Familiarity with power system modelling, generators, switchgear, protection, or power electronics.
• In-depth understanding of Power System Architecture, Power Generation, and Distribution.
• Significant knowledge of AC and DC electrical power systems.
• Experience working within relevant engineering roles adhering to industry codes and standards.
