What You’ll Be DoingAs a Senior Engineer in our Marine Systems Control and Instrumentation Team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of submarine design. Your responsibilities will include:
- Developing functional designs for Control & Instrumentation (C&I) solutions based on Piping & Instrumentation diagrams.
- Producing Bills of Materials for C&I equipment.
- Specifying instrumentation for pressure, temperature, flow, level, and analysis tailored to specific process conditions.
- Creating C&I designs that meet a variety of standards, including functional, safety, and naval requirements.
- Ensuring compliance with non-functional stakeholder requirements (EMC, Shock, Metallics, etc.).
- Producing verification evidence to demonstrate design compliance.
- Generating various design documents such as I/O schedules, instrument schedules, and functional design specifications.
- Implementing physical system-to-system interface designs.
- Leading technical design reviews for C&I.
- Articulating and presenting technical arguments clearly and logically.
- Conducting peer reviews and managing system design maturity to meet program demands.
- Liaising with internal and external customers as part of a dynamic technical team.
We’re looking for someone with a strong background in engineering. Here’s what you’ll need:
- BEng (Hons) / MEng or equivalent.
- Working towards professional registration.
- Strong technical report writing skills.
- Demonstrable experience throughout the engineering lifecycle.
- Knowledge of defence standards is a plus.
- Experience in system calculations, modeling, and analysis.
- Understanding of at least one of the following areas:
- Legacy submarine design programs.
- High, medium, and low voltage systems.
- Control system architecture and communication protocols (e.g., RS-485, PROFIBUS).
- Completion and verification of designs in accordance with IEC 61508 – Functional Safety (or similar).
- Multi-disciplinary understanding of engineering, including Mechanical, Process, Instrument, Electrical, Control, and Safety.
- Specifying equipment for use in Hazardous Areas and producing verification evidence.
- Contributing to the production and improvement of process instructions.
