Salary: Circa £55,000

What You’ll Be Doing:
  • Deliver Engineering Assurance: Ensure the integrity of cutting-edge BAE Systems Maritime Submarines products across major Submarine Enterprise programmes.
  • Plan and Prioritise: Use a risk-based approach to optimise assurance activities while adhering to the Submarines Engineering Product Assurance Framework.
  • Lead Assurance Reviews: Bring your SQEP expertise to validate design decisions, technical bids, and engineering evidence.
  • Ensure Safety and Compliance: Guarantee that products are safe, compliant, cost-effective, and fully integrated, with hazards demonstrated ALARP.
  • Provide Independent Oversight: Offer objective judgement aligned with mandated engineering frameworks and policies during design and technical reviews.
  • Collaborate Across Teams: Influence outcomes and shape product quality by working closely with engineering and wider business teams.
  • Act as a Safety Advocate: Provide impartial technical support to the broader Submarine Enterprise, challenging designs from a fresh, safety-focused perspective.
Your Skills and Experiences:
  • Educational Background: A degree in Mechanical Engineering is preferred, but strong experience in design and/or commissioning will also be considered.
  • Hands-On Experience: Proficient with event reporting systems, confidently identifying issues, investigating root causes, and driving effective resolutions.
  • Design Proving Capability: Proven track record in taking projects through verification, validation, and successful commissioning.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of design reviews, audits, change management, and resolving complex technical challenges.
  • Solid Mechanical Engineering Background: Practical experience across design, testing, and commissioning activities.
