HVAC Technical Lead

Salary: Up to £52,000, depending on skills and experience + Overtime

As an HVAC Technical Lead, you will play a pivotal role in our dynamic team. Your responsibilities will include:

• Technical Autonomy: Utilize your expertise to provide guidance and advice to fellow professionals within the project team.
• Prioritization: Use the programme delivery plan to prioritize team activities, ensuring quality expectations are met while maintaining schedule and cost-effectiveness.
• Project Leadership: Act as the focal point for discipline-specific tasks, championing continuous improvement and compliance with the discipline strategy.
• Engineering Excellence: Deploy your high-level expertise in engineering toolsets, including CAD and information management tools, to deliver complex design activities.
• Decision Making: Leverage your knowledge to make informed decisions and facilitate problem-solving, guided by policies and business plans.
• Issue Escalation: Effectively escalate complex design issues and advise the Detail Design Delivery Team Lead on proposed technical resolutions.
• Team Development: Identify capability gaps and development needs within the team, contributing to training and development plans.
• Mentorship: Support activities such as skills coaching and mentoring, contributing to management reporting.

We’re looking for candidates who possess the following:

• Experience in large-scale engineering projects or technical roles.
• A breadth and depth of specialist technical knowledge, along with broad experience of processes, data, systems, and the business environment.
• HNC/HND qualified in a technology, engineering, or science-related discipline, with completion of vocational training or equivalent experience.
• HVAC experience or Auxiliary Systems preferred, with considerable experience in an engineering or technical role.
• Preferred experience in Ship Building.

The BAE Systems Design Services HVAC Team consists of 15 talented engineers dedicated to developing and delivering HVAC design guidance, testing, commissioning, and fault finding for all current naval platforms based in Portsmouth Naval Base.

As an HVAC Technical Lead, you will support a defined range of detail design activities, ensuring that all relevant processes and quality requirements are met. You will provide valuable advice and support to operations and other functions, helping to achieve defined objectives while maintaining high standards of quality and service.
