We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Forklift Operator to join our busy warehouse facility in Des Moines, Iowa. As a Forklift Operator, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient movement of materials within the distribution center. This role is critical to maintaining workflow and ensuring timely processing of inventory. You will operate various types of forklifts to transport, load, unload, and stack goods. A strong commitment to safety and operational excellence is essential for success in this logistics role.
Responsibilities:
- Operate forklifts (sit-down, stand-up, electric) safely and efficiently to move materials throughout the warehouse.
- Load and unload trailers, ensuring proper stacking and securing of goods.
- Transport inventory to and from designated storage areas, production lines, and shipping docks.
- Perform routine checks on forklift equipment, reporting any issues or maintenance needs.
- Follow all traffic regulations and safety guidelines within the warehouse environment.
- Adhere to strict safety protocols, including the mandatory use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Assist with inventory management, including cycle counts and stock placement.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area to promote safety and efficiency.
- Collaborate with other warehouse personnel to ensure smooth operations.
- Contribute to a positive and productive work environment.
Qualifications:
- Valid forklift operator certification or license.
- Proven experience operating various types of forklifts in a warehouse setting.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Strong understanding of warehouse safety procedures and material handling best practices.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 50 pounds when necessary.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced logistics environment.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
