The Organization

San Gabriel/Pomona Regional Center (SG/PRC) is a private, non-profit agency contracted with the State of California, Department of Developmental Services, to provide services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. SG/PRC has proudly served the San Gabriel and Pomona Valleys since 1986, serving individuals across the lifespan—from infants and toddlers to adults and aging adults—across 30 cities within its catchment area.

Position Description

The Senior H.R. Generalist reports to the Chief People Officer and plays a key role in delivering comprehensive human resources support to the organization. This position is responsible for full-cycle recruitment, talent strategy, onboarding, HR administration, reporting, and compliance. The Senior H.R. Generalist partners closely with leadership and community stakeholders to ensure high-quality, mission-driven HR service delivery.

Essential Job Functions

  • Builds effective, collaborative relationships with employees and organizational leaders.
  • Oversees full-cycle recruitment, including job postings, candidate sourcing, resume screening, interview coordination, and offer negotiations.
  • Leads talent acquisition operations by assessing, optimizing, and automating recruitment workflows.
  • Develops and maintains standardized job descriptions.
  • Creates and delivers recruitment and talent-strategy metrics to support data-driven decision making.
  • Builds the organization's professional network through relationships with HR professionals, colleges, and other partners, and represents the organization at job fairs and community events.
  • Conducts reference and background checks.
  • Manages new-hire onboarding to ensure a positive and seamless experience.
  • Trains hiring managers on effective interviewing and selection practices.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures.
  • Maintains accurate and confidential employee records within the HRIS.
  • Prepares personnel action requests and related HR documentation.
  • Processes employment verifications and wage garnishments.
  • Performs additional duties that support departmental and organizational goals.

Requirements:

Employment Standards

A bachelor's degree in human resources management or related field. Master's degree or advanced certification preferred. Five years of experience in a human resources environment performing the duties described in the essential job functions.

Knowledge and Abilities

  • Ability to manage highly confidential information and exercise good judgment and discretion.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy skills.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent computer skills in MS Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize assignments, and meet deadlines with conflicting priorities.
  • Ability to establish collaborative partnerships with outside agencies.
  • Ability to independently produce all H.R. related correspondence and administrative records.
  • Knowledge of HR policies and procedures and demonstrated experience with HR metrics.
  • Ability to engage in effective interaction with diverse individuals.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • Primarily sedentary work performed in an office environment.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods and operate a computer and standard office equipment.
  • Clear verbal communication in person and by phone.
  • Occasional standing, walking, bending, and reaching to access files and supplies.
  • Occasional lifting, pushing, or pulling of items up to 25 pounds.
  • Adequate visual acuity to read documents, use a computer monitor for prolonged periods, and review detailed information.
  • Work occurs in a typical office setting with standard lighting, temperature, and moderate noise levels.
  • Employees are expected to follow safe and ergonomic work practices.
