About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer II with a focus on full-stack development and a backend-leaning approach to join our dynamic engineering team. In this role, you will be instrumental in building and enhancing automation systems that handle complex insurance servicing tasks, such as policy endorsements, cancellations, document uploads, and reinstatements. Your work will directly impact customer retention, policy renewals, and overall user experience by developing scalable backend pipelines, APIs, and microservices that sync customer data, deliver timely alerts, and facilitate seamless re-shopping experiences.
You will operate in a fast sprint environment, shipping features and automations within 1-2 week cycles, and will collaborate closely with product, data, and operations teams to anticipate churn and improve service quality. This role offers the opportunity to work across the full technology stack, optimize internal tools, and contribute to refactoring and scaling our platform for future growth. The ideal candidate will thrive in a remote-first, global team environment, demonstrating ownership, problem-solving skills, and a passion for continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of full-stack engineering experience in a production environment
- Proven experience building large-scale, distributed systems for consumer-facing applications
- Strong foundation in data structures, algorithms, and systems design
- Proficiency in TypeScript, , , React, and React Native
- Experience working with GraphQL APIs
- Familiarity with data storage solutions such as Postgres, DynamoDB, Clickhouse, and Redis
- Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure, including AWS, ECS/EKS, Lambda, and containerization
- Ability to work asynchronously across multiple time zones with excellent communication skills
- Problem-solving mindset with a focus on ownership and continuous improvement
- Adaptability and curiosity to learn new tools and technologies
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain automation systems for insurance servicing tasks, ensuring reliability and scalability
- Design and implement backend business logic that adheres to complex insurance carrier rules
- Create backend pipelines to sync customer policy data, deliver alerts, and support re-shopping experiences
- Optimize and scale internal tools to reduce manual intervention and improve operational efficiency
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product managers, data analysts, and operations to improve customer retention and reduce churn
- Continuously enhance backend systems, APIs, and microservice architecture for better performance and maintainability
- Participate in refactoring efforts to simplify legacy systems and support future platform growth
- Contribute to code reviews, testing, and documentation to uphold high engineering standards
