Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and energetic Direct Support Professional to join our dedicated team in providing exceptional care and support to individuals with diverse needs. Duties

  • Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting to promote independence and dignity
  • Monitor patient health by observing vital signs, symptoms, and overall condition; report changes promptly to healthcare teams
  • Support medication administration following proper protocols and HIPAA privacy standards to ensure safety and confidentiality
  • Prepare nutritious meals in accordance with dietary plans, including cooking and meal planning tailored to individual needs
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light cleaning duties, laundry, and organizing personal spaces
  • Use specialized equipment such as Hoyer lifts or resident lifts to assist with mobility safely and effectively
  • Develop and follow individualized care plans that address each resident's unique needs, including dementia or Alzheimer's care, autism support, or hospice care
  • Engage residents in social activities and community outings to foster socialization and mental stimulation
  • Document care provided accurately in compliance with HIPAA regulations and organizational policies

Requirements

  • Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home & community care settings is highly preferred
  • Knowledge of patient observation techniques, vital signs monitoring, medication administration, and safety procedures such as CPR and First Aid certification
  • Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, dementia or Alzheimer's disease is desirable
  • Ability to lift heavy objects safely using proper techniques or equipment such as Hoyer lifts when assisting residents with mobility challenges
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members, residents, families, and healthcare professionals
  • Demonstrated understanding of HIPAA privacy standards and confidentiality requirements in healthcare settings
  • Flexibility to work various shifts including evenings, weekends or overnight hours as needed for resident care continuity
  • Compassionate attitude with a passion for supporting others' independence while ensuring their safety and comfort
