Job Goals: Responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing a comprehensive systemwide liaison role between parents, the central office, the schools, and the community with Hispanic families anytime language is a barrier with both traditional and virtual school students.
- Provide administrators, teachers and support staff with research articles and handouts for parents. Develop materials to support the school to bridge the communication between the families and school.
- Assists principals and counselors in resolving issues between Latino students and families and the schools.
- Assist nurses with communicating with students and parents in medical emergencies.
- Develop effective ways to encourage parent/family engagement with a specific focus on English Language Learners by attending district parent meetings, community meetings and parent/teacher conference.
- Develop and implement effective parent/family engagement strategies and activities to empower students and their families including attending school committees for AdvancEd, state monitoring and district parent meetings.
- Contact different local agencies to find help when a family notifies liaison asking for help such as medical records, transportation, doctor's appointments and required school forms.
- Assist Child Nutrition Department in contacting Hispanic Families to resolve any issues dealing with the meal programs at the local school.
- Assist the Transportation Department in contacting Hispanic Families to resolve any issues dealing with transportation.
- Translate all district and local schools document to Spanish that includes but not limited to referrals, reevaluations, preschool forms, IEP's, 504 plans, EL plans, district forms and plans.
- Attend IEP meetings, 504 meetings and EL meetings to serve as an interpreter.
- Attend all Kindergarten registration at every elementary school.
- Print Employment Surveys from all schools to process for pick-up by the State Department of Education.
- Assist the Federal Programs in identifying areas in need of improvement.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Fluent in speaking and translating Spanish.
Understands class and culture backgrounds of families.
Thinks and acts in ways that respect ethnic, cultural, and language diversity.
Has experience in collaborative leadership.
Displays interpersonal skills.
Advocates for children and parents.
Ability to meet suitability criteria for employment and/or certification/licensure under the Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No
Proficiency in oral and written communication skills.
Effective interpersonal skills, with an emphasis on communication and collaboration with a wide variety of people and groups.
Ability to work independently and make policy interpretations.
Ability to solve problems as a productive team member.
Ability to use technology to communicate, to manage data and to produce/submit required reports, correspondence and/or financial information.
Physical strength, mobility, dexterity, stamina and acuity to perform job responsibilities.
Ability to be punctual and in regular attendance.
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may require.

Adheres to school system rules, administrative procedures, local Board policies, and state, federal, and local laws.
Reports absences and takes leave in accordance with Board policies and procedures.
Performs any other job-related duties as assigned by Supervisor(s).
Terms of Employment/Salary:As established by the Board and applicable state law.
Evaluation:Performance will be evaluated in accordance with the Board's policy on evaluation of personnel.
