F&B- Kitchen Steward
General Position Summary:
Coordinates cleaning efforts of F&B employees who are not engaged in cooking duties to ensure clean and efficient food service areas. Assists the kitchen management team or inventory clerks in proper storage of food and supplies.
Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities:
- Assigns dishwashing duties to ensure sufficient coverage of all kitchen areas
- Establishes a silverware cleaning schedule
- Inspects kitchen, equipment and food service related work areas for cleanliness and order
- Maintains inventories of china, silverware, linens, and glassware at all F&B venues
- Reports shortages and coordinates requisitions with the F&B Director or Manager
- Coordinates preventative maintenance schedule with Executive Chef and Facilities personnel/vendor
- May assist in other areas of the F&B operation depending upon staffing levels
Secondary Functions:
- Maintains superior level of personal hygiene and adheres to all health regulations and department sanitation
- May assist with banquets and other special events.
- Performs other duties as deemed necessary
Specific Job Skills:
- Working knowledge of kitchen equipment
- Strong math skills
- Basic computer skills including excel
- Knowledge of cooking procedures
- Knowledge of health standards and proper cooking and food storage temperatures
- Good communication skills (both verbal and written)
- Ability to problem solve
Education and/or Experience:
High School diploma or GED required. 1-2 years previous experience working in a food preparation capacity. Ability to obtain a Food Handler's Permit. Prefer a SERV SAFE certification.
Job Conditions:
Working conditions include working with and around kitchen equipment sometimes under crowded, sometimes stressful conditions with frequent interruptions.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand for extended periods of time. Able to lift 75 lbs.
