Software Engineer (Full Stack)

What You'll Do
As a Full Stack Software Engineer, you'll work across frontend and backend systems to design, build, and ship production features. This role emphasizes end-to-end ownership. You'll collaborate closely with engineers, product, and design to turn real needs into scalable solutions.
You will:
- Design and implement backend services and APIs
- Build and maintain modern, responsive frontend applications
- Own features from initial design through deployment
- Improve system reliability, performance, and security
- Contribute to architectural decisions and technical direction
Core Technologies
We don't expect perfection, but you should be comfortable with most of the following:
Frontend
- Angular, TypeScript
- Tailwind CSS
- RxJS, Angular Signals (or similar state management)
Backend
- , NestJS
- GraphQL (Apollo) and REST
- OAuth 2.0, JWT, RBAC
Data & Infrastructure
- PostgreSQL
- Docker, Kubernetes
- CI/CD with GitHub Actions
- Redis and event-based systems
Responsibilities by Area
Backend Engineering
- Build scalable APIs and services using NestJS and TypeScript
- Design and optimize relational database schemas
- Implement secure authentication and authorization patterns
- Develop microservices and event-driven workflows
- Partner with DevOps on deployment, monitoring, and infrastructure
Frontend Engineering
- Develop accessible, high-performance user interfaces
- Translate product and design requirements into clean UI components
- Manage complex client-side state and data flows
- Integrate frontend systems with backend APIs
Team & Process
- Participate in code reviews and architectural discussions
- Write clear documentation for systems and features
- Mentor junior engineers when appropriate
- Write unit and integration tests to support production reliability
What We're Building
TurboVets' platform supports the full military lifecycle. Current and upcoming projects include:
- Career and skill development tools
- Financial literacy and VA loan support systems
- Secure handling of service and medical records
- Government and DoD program integrations
- TurboRecruit platform improvements, including video and document-based resources
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience
- At least 1 year of full stack engineering experience
- Hands-on experience with TypeScript and
- Experience building production APIs (REST or GraphQL)
- Familiarity with Angular, React, or similar frameworks
- Experience working with relational databases
- Comfortable with Docker-based development and CI/CD pipelines
Nice to Have
- Nx or other monorepo tooling
- gRPC or WebSockets
- Serverless experience (AWS or Azure)
- CQRS, DDD, or event sourcing patterns
- Monitoring and observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana)
Work Authorization & Location
- Hybrid for Phoenix-area candidates (1–2 days onsite weekly)
- Fully remote for candidates located elsewhere in the U.S.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States
