JOB SUMMARY
The speech-language pathologist will support patients and their families by providing speech-language therapy services including screening, assessment, and treatment of speech-language disorders. The speech-language pathologist will engage in communication with other team members and support patient's family through consultation and home-programming activities.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Client Care
- Conduct screenings for speech/language services as appropriate for new referrals as requested
- Perform and interpret diagnostic evaluations to determine appropriate recommendations
- Review medical or background information to diagnose and plan treatment for speech, language, fluency, voice, or swallowing disorders
- Provide direct therapy for identified patients by implementing treatment plans
Communication
- Actively consult with parents and/or caregivers to ensure care plan is understood
- Communicate with internal colleagues as appropriate for optimal client care experience
How We Work
- Complete accurate and timely documentation of patient status including evaluations, treatment plans, recertification reports, and discharge summaries
- Plan and organize therapy activities for patients in the clinic, at home, or daycare setting
- Abide by Board policies and other state and federal regulations concerning patients with disabilities
- Ensure professional growth and support is maintained

(Internal/Organizational and External/Customer Contact)
· Regular contact with team members. Purpose of contacts is to explain, clarify or interpret information. May handle confidential information and some complex matters.
· Requires normal courteous interaction and basic interpersonal skills and tact to communicate with others. May involve routine customer sales and solutions. Non-routine inquiries and/or complaints are referred to others. Other limited external contact may be required to obtain information and/or to make inquiries of others.

· Problems and solutions are unique and unpredictable but are similar to those previously encountered. Solutions require judgment such as setting priorities, evaluating results and/or coordinating with others.
DECISION MAKING AND DECISION IMPACT
Independent judgment is required to analyze problems and perform needs assessments. Uses judgment in adapting broad guidelines to achieve desired result. Regular exercise of independent judgment is used. Makes recommendations that affect policies, procedures and practices. Refers exceptions to policies and procedures to the supervisor.

SUPERVISION REQUIRED
· Performs duties within scope of general policies, procedures and objectives with minimal supervision. Refers exceptions to supervisor.

· No Supervisory Duties.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work may occur in the office, from a remote office location, and from a client site. Occasional travel may be required. Lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds may be necessary. Standing, walking, sitting, kneeling, squatting, and driving are common motion requirements. The ability to make quick decisions, manage multiple priorities, be flexible, deescalate conflict, and operate in a fast-paced environment may be required.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
- ND Licensure in Speech Language Pathology
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program
- Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) (preferred)
- Experience in pediatrics (preferred)
