Trewon is seeking an Technical Writer/Researcher to support our Federal Government client. The Technical Writer/Researcher creates, designs, maintains, and edits various publications, which may include, but are not limited to technical documents, reports, guides, training products, and reference materials. The Technical Writer/Researcher ensures adherence to standards, formats, and overall document usability. Specific processes may vary depending upon the directorate and/or office assigned, with activities, workflows, and systems/tools governed by SOPs that typically evolve over time. The Technical Writer/Researcher is also responsible for maintaining, controlling, and auditing relevant documentation under the direction of the Division leadership.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Compose, design, and edit documentation based on input from stakeholders and subject matter experts, including memos, technical documents, standard operating procedures (SOPs), statements of work, and training documents.
  • Conduct research on pertinent topics, then translate that information into artifacts geared toward general audiences.
  • Collaborate with analysts to conduct organizational analyses, propose new processes, procedures, and tools, and prepare job aids and manuals to assist programs to operate more efficiently and effectively.
  • Maintain central document control for the office and maintain an accurate and current library of technical resources and documentation.
  • Generate reports based on tracked data to determine outcomes and effectiveness following completion of tasks, such as training courses.

Other Skills

  • Must demonstrate excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills to write and review technical documents.
  • Must demonstrate thorough knowledge of the use of Microsoft applications.
  • Must be highly organized and have excellent oral and written communication skills to interface with Department of State personnel and other government agencies at all levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of office policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Experience working with databases and other financial systems.
  • Knowledge of basic accounting skills is a plus.
  • Experience with government procurement processes, such as acquisition policy and procedures, is preferred but not required.

  • A minimum of 7-10 years of experience in technical writing.
