Role Summary
The SSI Interior Designer is ready to own projects, drive decisions, and execute at a high level. This role is for a designer with 3-4+ years of experience who is hungry to step into leadership, not by managing people, but by leading projects through excellence, ownership, and execution.
This is not a delegator only role, but also a doer who is responsible for bringing the client's vision to life through selections, planning, and managing the design and construction process from concept to completion. This role creates detailed drawings and renderings, leads client meetings, manages project timelines, and guides the design team to ensure projects move forward efficiently, maintaining alignment with client goals and company standards.

Key Responsibilities
- Project and Design Leadership
- Lead full-service interior design projects from concept through installation and close-out
- Drive projects forward with confidence, clarity, and urgency
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously with strong task switching ability
- Maintain momentum and own outcomes without sacrificing quality
- Client Experience
- Build trust with clients through calm confidence and emotional intelligence
- Lead presentations, selections, and approvals
- Translate vision into decisive design direction while handling feedback professionally and proactively
- Create an experience where clients feel guided, relieved, and in good hands
- Technical and Trade Coordination
- Produce and/or manage CAD drawings and design documentation
- Lead and attend on-site walkthroughs, including electrical, lighting, tile, slab, and general progress visits
- Communicate design intent clearly and practically while maintaining high standards of accuracy and completeness
- Solve issues in real time using industry knowledge and common sense
- Finishes and Procurement
- Guide the design team on selections, buildout schedules, and vendor coordination
- Confidently select, specify, and push furniture, fabrics, and finishes
- Balance brand standards, budget, and client goals
- Partner with procurement and warehouse teams to ensure accuracy
- Support installs and final styling with oversight and expertise
- Brand and Standards
- Design with our brand language and aesthetic
- Maintain consistency, polish, and professionalism across projects
- Make decisions that protect margins, timelines, client experience, and reputation
Qualifications
Required
- Strong knowledge of construction (especially framing), trades, and sequencing with the ability to communicate well with builders
- Solid understanding of code and proficient in the comprehension and red lining of architectural, lighting, and ceiling plans and feature walls
- Experience in both new build and remodel, or high-end residential design
- 3-4+ years of hands-on, interior design industry experience
- Proven CAD experience (Auto CAD, SketchUp)
- Comfortable managing multiple, active projects and guiding the team through
- Strong written and verbal communication with high attention to detail and accuracy
- Delivers timely work, drives projects forward, and represents the brand with confidence and care
Preferred
- Experience with longer design cycles, in design-led firms, with technical aptitude
- Comfortable with complex scopes, sensitive clients, and prestige environments
- Strong instincts with practical judgement, capable of asking thoughtful questions, anticipating problems before they happen, and protecting the client experience
