School Year
Join our team at the Children's Center of Weston (CCW) as a School Teacher - in the after school hours and make a positive impact on the lives of students. We are seeking passionate individuals with experience in education and a dedication to fostering a supportive learning environment and building community.
The position is for educators experienced working with children in grades K – 5th grade. A great part time fit for afternoon teaching hours or as a second position to make a full day of teaching We are looking for motivated, energetic, creative, experienced, active, reliable, qualified teachers/educators with great work ethic for the remainder of and possibly beyond. The Children's Center of Weston is private non-profit after school program for grades K-5 located within the public schools. CCW has been providing quality after school programming since 1974 and was started by a group of parents needing care for their children. Since that time and celebrating 50 years - the Children's Center of Weston is a community that continues to develop character traits such as kindness, compassion, thoughtfulness, integrity, thoughtful, individuality, and empathy. The mission of the Children's Center of Weston is dynamic learning through play and providing a safe place for children to learn and grow.
Dates: Current June 18th (or last day of school)
Salary commensurate with experience and education; based on $ $26.00 per hour. Additional hours available at various times throughout the school year at hourly rate.Times: 1:30 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. M-F; First Wednesday of each month 11 a.m. - 6 p.m.
Responsibilities
- Create a welcoming and safe classroom environment that encourages learning and positive behavior management
- Implement age-appropriate educational activities, including tutoring sessions, arts and crafts, sports coaching, theater, and other enrichment programs
- Monitor student behavior to ensure safety and adherence to program rules using effective classroom management techniques
- Collaborate with parents, guardians, and school staff to support each child's individual needs and development goals
- Assist with basic first aid when necessary and respond promptly to any minor injuries or health concerns
- Support children with special education needs by adapting activities and providing additional assistance as required
- Supervise and engage students in educational activities
- Implement, create, and maintain educational programs, routines, and activities
- Manage classroom behavior and ensure a positive learning atmosphere
- Engage in outdoor and gym play and art activities, creative play and homework support
- Collaborate with team to support student development and communicate with parents
- Incorporate creative team goals to enhance learning experiences working as a team
Skills
- Proven experience working with children in educational or childcare settings such as classroom, camp, child care, babysitting, or tutoring roles
- Strong classroom management skills to foster discipline while maintaining a positive atmosphere
- Knowledge of childhood development principles and early childhood education best practices
- Ability to handle behavioral challenges effectively through positive behavior management strategies
- Excellent communication skills for engaging with children, parents, and team members
- Enthusiasm for sports coaching, theater arts, crafts, or other extracurricular activities that enhance the learning experience
Requirements:
- Possess a Bachelor's degree in Education or enrolled in related field (preferred)
-Experience in early childhood education or working with school-aged children
- Great team member providing great leadership
- Proficiency in great work ethic and community building
- Strong communication skills for effective interaction with students, parents, and teachers
- Adapt strategies while planning with the team to engage and meet diverse learning
-Must be able to be active and engaged with children, lift light weight (small chairs, desks, tables, boxes) and be able to perform the job duties/responsibilities.
- Certification in First Aid and CPR is nice to have and also provided
