Ophthalmic Technician

Position Summary

The Ophthalmic Technician will work closely with physicians and patients, performing advanced diagnostic testing, assisting with clinical workflows, and ensuring a positive patient experience. This role is ideal for a skilled, detail-oriented technician who thrives in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive patient workups (VA, refraction, IOP, pupil assessment, EOMs)
• Obtain accurate patient histories and document findings in the EHR
• Perform diagnostic testing such as:
• OCT
• Visual fields
• Fundus photography
• A-scan / IOL calculations (preferred)
• Assist physicians during examinations and minor procedures
• Administer ophthalmic drops and medications as directed
• Prepare exam rooms, clean instruments, and maintain equipment
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA and clinic protocols

Qualifications

• Minimum 2+ years of experience as an Ophthalmic Technician required
• COA, COT, or COMT certification preferred
• Strong knowledge of ophthalmic terminology and testing
• Experience with EHR systems
• Excellent communication and patient service skills
• Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a high-volume clinic
• Reliable, punctual, and team-oriented
