Medical Assistant

Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting medical professionals by providing both clinical and administrative assistance in a fast-paced environment. This position requires a strong understanding of medical terminology, clinical skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in both clinic and OR settings.

Duties

• Assist healthcare providers with patient examinations and procedures.
• Prepare and maintain examination rooms, ensuring they are clean and stocked with necessary supplies.
• Record patient histories and vital signs accurately.
• Administer medications and injections as directed by physicians.
• Perform basic laboratory tests and prepare specimens for analysis.
• Schedule patient appointments and manage the clinic's calendar.
• Handle medical coding for billing purposes, ensuring accuracy in patient records.
• Provide administrative support including filing, data entry, and managing patient records.
• Communicate effectively with patients regarding their care plans and follow-up appointments.
• Uphold confidentiality standards in compliance with HIPAA regulations.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Medical Assistant or similar role is preferred.
• Knowledge of internal medicine, geriatrics, and physiology is essential.
• Familiarity with medical terminology and coding practices is highly desirable.
• Experience working in a hospital or outpatient clinic setting is an advantage.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a healthcare team while maintaining professionalism at all times.
• Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems is beneficial. eClinicalWorks is a PLUS
