Job Summary

The Restaurant Cleaner is responsible for maintaining a clean, sanitary, and welcoming environment before guests arrive. This role plays a critical part in supporting food safety, health department compliance, and overall restaurant readiness by ensuring dining areas, restrooms, patios, and common spaces are properly cleaned and stocked each morning.

Key Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize dining rooms, restrooms, foyer, and patio areas prior to opening
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, and scrub floors throughout the restaurant
• Clean tables, chairs, booths, windows, and doors on a routine weekly schedule
• Empty trash and recycling receptacles and replace liners
• Thoroughly clean and sanitize restrooms, including sinks, toilets, mirrors, and floors
• Refill restroom and cleaning supplies such as soap, paper towels, and toilet paper
• Follow all health department regulations, food safety, and sanitation standards
• Safely and properly use cleaning chemicals, tools, and equipment
• Report maintenance issues, safety hazards, or supply needs to restaurant management
• Assist with deep-cleaning projects as needed
• During summer months, clean patio areas and maintain water planters and foliage

Qualifications & Experience

• Ability to follow cleaning schedules, checklists, and safety guidelines
• Knowledge of safe chemical handling and sanitation practices (or willingness to learn)
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Strong attention to detail, reliability, and time management skills
• Previous cleaning or janitorial experience preferred, but not required
• Food Handler Certification, ServSafe, or similar credentials as required.

Work Environment

• Fast-paced restaurant environment.
• Exposure to kitchen equipment and hot/cold temperatures.
• Interaction with guests and team members in a dynamic setting.
• Early morning hours, before the restaurant opens to guests
• Schedule may vary based on business needs, seasonality, or special cleaning projects

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move throughout the restaurant for extended periods
• Ability to lift and carry up to 25–50 pounds
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Comfortable working with cleaning chemicals and equipment
