Team/Role Overview: As a Manager on the Risk Analytics team, you will establish and lead our new Account Security function, creating essential protections for our users and ensuring the integrity of our platform. This position will report to the Director of Risk Analytics and Operations and is eligible for remote work in the United States. The ideal candidate will be a strategic leader driven by data, with a builder's mindset, eager to leverage their experience at the intersection of traditional risk management and the evolving cryptoeconomy. This is a distinct chance to create a foundational team and shape the future of trust and safety from the ground up. Your Responsibilities: Lead and mentor a team of analysts, developing risk strategies focused on account security and preventing account takeovers (ATO). Balance leadership with hands-on contributions, crafting complex SQL queries and steering technical investigations. Define key risk metrics, construct reporting frameworks, and promote continuous improvement by identifying monitoring gaps and prioritizing enhancements. Convert data insights into compelling narratives that shape senior risk and product strategies. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product, engineering, and data science to meet high-impact security and trust goals. Create secure user experiences that maintain trust while providing quick access and recovery for legitimate users. Oversee incident response initiatives during significant fraud events and coordinate post-analysis efforts. What We Seek in You: 7+ years of risk management experience in e-commerce or financial services. 4+ years addressing account takeovers (ATO) and scams within a Fraud, Trust & Safety, Risk, or Account Security capacity. 2+ years in people management or leading analysts/tech leads while remaining actively engaged with SQL/Python. Experience with SQL and Python programming. Proficiency in business intelligence and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Looker, Superset). Exceptional communication abilities with a talent for storytelling that translates data into actionable insights for stakeholders. Proven skills in independently scoping and delivering analytics projects, in collaboration with Product, Data Science, and Engineering teams. Familiarity with blockchain analytics and/or fraud trends in the cryptocurrency space. A BA/BS degree in a quantitative field (such as Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, or Computer Science) or equivalent practical experience. The target annual salary for this role may range from $193,270 to $228,200 USD depending on your work location. Full-time offers from Coinbase include bonuses, equity eligibility, and comprehensive benefits (such as medical, dental, vision, and 401(k)).
