Key Duties and Responsibilities
Customer Satisfaction: Focus on making a stellar first impression and maximizing guest satisfaction. Recognize the importance of each event and seize the opportunity to make a lasting positive impression. Engage with all guests, vendors and potential customers in a polite, friendly and enthusiastic manner. Respond to guest inquiries and requests, anticipate guest needs and ensure that those needs are satisfied and/or exceeded. Take initiative to be knowledgeable about facility and event details. Be prepared to answer guest questions, or to secure an answer and follow up with guests.
Dishwashing: Wash all wares including pots, pans, china, flatware, and glasses, by hand or using dishwashing machine. Correctly place and store clean equipment, dishes, and utensils in assigned storage areas. Polish silverware. May assist in cleaning and preparing various foods for cooking and/or serving, as directed.
Event Setup/Breakdown: Set up and break down of events, including but not limited to: tables; chairs; linens; carts; stands and easels; and other equipment. Set up and reset for events per instructions provided. Assist during events by transporting tables and other equipment as needed.
Janitorial Duties: Ensure that the venue and grounds are in immaculate condition at all times. Maintain high standards of cleanliness throughout entire facility and grounds. Clean entire facility, including but not limited to: banquet rooms; restaurant; restrooms; hallways; carpets; dance floor; doors and doorways; windows; curtains; woodwork; banquet bar; restaurant bar; banquet kitchen; restaurant kitchen; server station; stereo cabinet; coat room; foyer; basement; porches, patios and entrances; and supplies and equipment including refrigerators and freezers.
Trash Removal: Remove trash from receptacles throughout facility and grounds. Replace bags. Transport garbage to dumpster and remove from cart or vehicle. Wash all trash receptacles on a regular basis.
Maintenance: Perform light maintenance duties as directed. Check light bulbs throughout facility and grounds to ensure that all are in working order. Change light bulbs as necessary.
Deliveries: Receive deliveries of goods and supplies. Using invoice, verify that all items ordered have been received. If items are missing, notify management immediately. Transport all items to the appropriate location and put items away.
Safety & Sanitation: Ensures work areas remain safe, clean, and orderly, adhering to all company, local, and state guidelines regarding health, safety, and sanitation.
Team Player: Assist management and all other employees as requested. Be willing to perform other duties and to go the extra mile. Work effectively and efficiently both independently and as part of a team.
Required Skills and Qualifications
At least 1 year of experience in a similar role as a dishwasher and/or event setup position
Basic knowledge of banquet event operations, including but not limited to: set up; breakdown; equipment; dishwashing and safety requirements.
Basic knowledge of cleaning and maintenance procedures.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Effective time management, prioritization and organizational skills.
Ability to multitask and strong attention to detail.
Ability to enthusiastically engage with guests, prioritize guest satisfaction, read customers and anticipate guest needs.
Ability to follow direction and to follow through on tasks despite multiple and often conflicting demands.
Ability to plan and organize effectively to meet multiple demands, and willingess to adjust when flexibility is necessary.
Ability to complete tasks appropriately within specified time frame.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide.
Ability to report to work punctually and maintain reliability.
Ability to operate a golf cart.
Must be able to operate alarm system to open/close the building.
Must be available to work varied shifts including weekends and holidays.
Work Environment
Must be able to work in an indoor/outdoor kitchen environment that may involve exposure to extreme heat or cold, as well as smoke.
Ability to work in a fast-paced and potentially stressful environment while maintaining physical stamina and mental composure under pressure.
Physical Requirements
Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
Must be able to move product and equipment up to 50 pounds with or without assistance.
Ability to meet the physical demands of the job: stand and walk for entire shift; perform repetitive movements; bend, climb stairs, kneel and stoop; reach with hands and arms; lift, carry and transport light and heavy items, some requiring carts, dollies, an elevator and/or using stairs.
