Job Title: Senior Software Engineer (Backend) Location: San Francisco, CA Job Type: Full-time
Job Description: Our client, a rapidly growing startup based in San Francisco, is looking for a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer with extensive experience in backend development. The ideal candidate has a strong background working in fast-paced startup environments and is proficient in Python and FastAPI. You will play a pivotal role in designing, building, and optimizing our backend infrastructure while ensuring high performance, scalability, and security.
Key Responsibilities:
* Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Python and FastAPI * Collaborate closely with front-end engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality features * Lead backend architecture discussions and contribute to system design decisions * Optimize database queries and backend systems for performance and scalability * Ensure security best practices are followed throughout the development lifecycle * Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code * Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership
Requirements:
* 5-7+ years of experience as a Backend Engineer, preferably in a startup environment * Strong proficiency in Python and FastAPI * Experience with relational and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB) * Solid understanding of RESTful API design and implementation * Familiarity with cloud services (e.g., AWS, GCP) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) * Strong debugging and problem-solving skills * Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing * Excellent communication and collaboration skills * Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
Nice to Have:
* Experience with microservices architecture * Knowledge of frontend frameworks (React, Vue.js) for better cross-functional collaboration
