Position Overview
We're looking for a Steel Detailing Project Manager to join our team in Tempe, AZ. In this role, you'll be responsible for overseeing projects from start to finish. This means you'll handle all aspects of project planning, resource allocation, coordination, and reporting.
You'll manage client relationships, project deliverables, and budgets, all while leading your dedicated project team. A proactive approach is essential as you'll be responsible for setting and managing project objectives with both internal teams and external stakeholders, ensuring every project is delivered on time and within budget. You'll also play a key role in developing client proposals, tenders, and consulting reports.
Core Responsibilities
- Provide clear and focused leadership to the Team to ensure a full understanding of the project scope and what the expectations are of teams and individuals involved in the project.
- Responsible for delivering the project to the company's high-quality standards within set schedules and budget;
- Accountable for establishing a clear definition of scope of the project, and ensuring that there is full understanding of the scope and of what the expectations are of teams and individuals involved in the project;
- Responsible for tracking, monitoring, and measuring project schedule/budget and identifying any risks to schedule/budget achievement;
- In conjunction with the production manager, ensuring appropriate allocation of hours and resourcing for each team/project requirement;
- Responsible for ensuring that change orders are identified, documented, and submitted in a timely manner;
- Responsible for working with the Finance Team to ensure all invoices are submitted and paid on time and debtor's days do not exceed expected thresholds. Elevating if necessary;
- Accountable for managing all stakeholders to develop and maintain strategies around quality, productivity and risk;
- Proactively managing customer expectations and resolving performance, scope, cost and schedule issues with the client as they arise in conjunction with other relevant parties;
- Responsible for providing support to the production teams in all aspects of a project.
Work Experience
- Minimum 7 years of previous experience working within the steel detailing in a commercial/resources industry;
- Experience depends on the ability of the individual but generally a minimum of 5 years of related experience in lead roles within a drafting/detailing office would be required, for example, Project Coordinator, Lead Modeler / Checker, etc.;
- Essential experience in managing small to large project teams.
Education/Training
- Certificate or diploma in civil or structural steel drafting/detailing or engineering (or similar);
- Completion of training or a certificate in 3D modelling software, for example Tekla, AutoCAD, Navisworks, etc.;
Software & Technology
- Relevant CAD software used by the Company and/or office where the project manager is based e.g. Tekla, AutoCad, ProSteel, StruCAD, Revit, AutoPLANT, Navisworks;
- Microsoft Office software (including Outlook, Word, Excel);
- Either Primavera or Microsoft Project;
Salary Range
The expected base salary for this position ranges from $85,000 to $125,000 per annum. The final base salary will be determined based on factors such as the applicant's education, skills, competencies, and unique qualifications.
