General Manager – The Jay Café

The Jay Café is a beloved local restaurant known for its comforting, homestyle cooking and welcoming atmosphere. As we continue to grow and strengthen our presence in the Needville community, we are seeking an experienced General Manager to lead daily operations, build strong teams, and uphold the quality and hospitality our guests expect.

Position Overview

The General Manager will oversee all aspects of daily operations at The Jay Café, ensuring an exceptional guest experience while driving strong financial performance. This role is ideal for a hands-on restaurant leader with high-volume experience who values consistency, community, and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily restaurant operations, including kitchen, front-of-house, and catering.
• Hire, train, coach, and retain a high-performing team while fostering a positive work culture.
• Manage labor, inventory, food costs, and vendor relationships.
• Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and regulatory standards.
• Drive sales and guest satisfaction through excellent service and consistent food quality.
• Implement systems and processes to improve efficiency and support future growth.
• Review P&L statements, manage budgets, and report performance to ownership.
• Represent The Jay Café brand and maintain its reputation for quality homestyle cooking and hospitality.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of restaurant general management experience (high-volume preferred).
• Proven success managing $2M+ in annual revenue.
• Strong financial skills with experience controlling labor and food costs.
• Excellent leadership and team-building abilities.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Must be fluent in Spanish and English.
• Experience with POS systems, scheduling software, and operational technology.
• Passion for homestyle food, hospitality, and community-focused service.

Compensation & Benefits

• Base Salary: $55,000 – $75,000 (based on experience).
• Performance Bonuses: Profit-sharing and annual incentives tied to KPIs (food cost, labor, sales growth).
• Growth Opportunities: Advancement potential as the business continues to expand.
