Production Associate

As a Production Associate, you will be a member of the team responsible for baking and packaging our beloved roasted pecan snacks. Experience with baking/cooking in a commercial setting is required. You will be reporting to our Operations Manager who will help ensure your long-term success in this role.

Evie's Snacks is a direct-from-farm, pecan snack company. We offer Roasted Pecans in fun, nostalgic flavors like Brown Butter Rum and Banana Bread Pecans. They're crunchy and snackable with only 1/3 the total sugar of leading brands. Even better? All of our nuts are sourced from family farms in South TX.

Compensation Band: $26 / hour plus benefits for full-time employees

This role will be multi-functional, encompassing roasting and packaging of pecans. As a Production Associate, you will be responsible for operating nut processing, roasting, and packaging equipment to produce high-quality snacks. You will monitor the roasting process, adjust machine settings as needed, and ensure that all safety and quality standards are met. Your attention to detail and knowledge of baking and the production process will contribute to our overall success

• Equipment Operation: Operate and monitor nut roasting and packaging equipment, including adjusting temperature, time, and other settings to achieve optimal roasting and packaging results.
• Quality Control: Conduct regular quality checks to ensure roasted nuts meet specified standards, including color, texture, and flavor. Take corrective actions if deviations are detected.
• Productivity and Efficiency: Optimize the production process to maximize productivity while maintaining product quality and consistency. Minimize downtime by proactively identifying and resolving issues.
• Maintenance and Cleaning: Perform routine cleaning tasks on production and packaging equipment, including cleaning and sanitizing according to company and regulatory standards. Identify areas of mechanical wear and tear.
• Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety procedures and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment. Identify potential hazards and report them to supervisors promptly.
• Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of production activities, including batch numbers, roasting times, and temperature logs. Complete necessary documentation and reports as required.
• Team Collaboration: Collaborate with other team members to ensure smooth production flow and timely delivery of roasted nuts.
• Troubleshooting: Identify and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions or abnormalities, taking appropriate action to resolve issues promptly. Communicate equipment problems to management.
• Continuous Improvement: Suggest process improvements to enhance the efficiency, quality, and safety of the nut roasting operations. Actively participate in training programs to stay updated on process and best practices.

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Proven experience in baking / food processing or similar role in a commercial kitchen
• Strong knowledge of baking techniques, food handling, equipment, and safety procedures
• Ability to operate food processing and roasting equipment effectively and safely
• Excellent attention to detail and quality control skills
• Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting abilities
• Good communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
• Physical stamina to stand for extended periods, lift heavy objects, and perform repetitive tasks
• Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
