About The Role
We are seeking a dedicated Customer Technical Support Specialist (NEN) to join our team at the Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division in Dahlgren, VA. The successful candidate will serve as a vital point of contact for technical support within the organization, providing troubleshooting assistance, system maintenance, and user support for hardware, software, and network-related issues. This role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively within a team environment. The ideal candidate will ensure that all users receive prompt and efficient support, contributing to the smooth operation of critical military and organizational IT systems.
Qualifications
The candidate must possess a minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience in technical support or a related field. A High School Diploma is required, while a Bachelor's Degree is preferred. Demonstrated strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills are essential for success in this role. The candidate should have a solid understanding of current Microsoft supported Windows operating systems and possess excellent written and oral communication skills. Security+ certification or equivalent DoD 8570 IAT Level II compliance is mandatory at the time of hire. Knowledge of LAN/WAN computer systems, Active Directory, and familiarity with Department of Defense (DOD) networking and security procedures are highly desirable. Additionally, proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint is necessary. The ability to multitask, work independently or collaboratively, and communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders is crucial.
Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities include applying diagnostic techniques to identify and resolve hardware, software, and network issues, ensuring minimal downtime for users. The support specialist will troubleshoot technical problems, investigate root causes, and recommend effective solutions. Assisting users with data migrations during system upgrades and providing support for public folder management, including permission and administrator roles, are key tasks. The role also involves managing share drives, overseeing administrative responsibilities, and training content managers on system functionalities. Maintaining and developing IT procedures to support organizational needs, responding to data calls from the Department Information Officer, and contributing to monthly progress and status reports are additional responsibilities. The support specialist must monitor organizational email inboxes to ensure timely responses to user requests and provide ongoing support to maintain operational efficiency.
