Oakwood Care and Rehabilitation is seeking a dedicated and compassionate full-time Activities Assistant to join our dynamic team. This position will be open for a minimum of 3 days and will remain open until a top candidate is identified.

Position Title: Activities Assistant

Job Type: Full-Time

Location: Lakewood, CO

Shifts: Day shifts, Monday through Sunday. Shifts will be 4, 10-hour shifts.

Pay: $17-$22 per hour. Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and facilitate a diverse range of recreational activities, including arts and crafts, games, music sessions, outings, and special events aligned with residents' preferences and abilities
  • Collaborate with nursing staff and caregivers to develop activity schedules that support residents' physical, emotional, and cognitive health
  • Assist residents with daily living activities (ADLs) such as mobility, dressing, or other personal care needs during activities when necessary
  • Manage activity calendars efficiently to ensure smooth scheduling and timely execution of programs
  • Engage residents in meaningful conversations to understand their interests, histories, and current needs to tailor activities accordingly
  • Support residents with memory care needs by implementing specialized recreational therapies for individuals with Alzheimer's or other forms of dementia
  • Foster a positive social environment by encouraging participation and facilitating group interactions among residents

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in event planning or recreational therapy within assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or long-term care settings
  • Knowledge of Alzheimer's care, dementia care, memory care strategies, and senior care best practices
  • Experience working with people with disabilities or those requiring specialized caregiving support
  • Strong communication skills to effectively connect with residents, families, and team members
  • Ability to assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) while maintaining dignity and respect
  • Excellent organizational skills for managing schedules and coordinating multiple activities simultaneously
  • Background in social work or aging issues counseling is a plus but not required
  • Compassionate attitude with a genuine desire to improve the quality of life for seniors through engaging activities

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $ $22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
