Purpose

The Human Resources and Safety Coordinator at National Logistics Services (NLS) supports both the Human Resources and Safety teams with daily operations. This role assists with recruitment, onboarding, and all of the Great Place to Work initiatives while also providing guidance and leadership on the facility's safety initiatives. The Coordinator provides administrative and coordination support across HR processes, employee investigations, and safety programs, helping to promote employee engagement, workplace safety, and continuous improvement. 

Roles & Responsibilities 

  • Support employee engagement initiatives, recognition programs, and training coordination to enhance workplace culture and employee experience. 
  • Assist the HR team with drafting job letters, maintaining documentation, and providing administrative support during employee investigations. 
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, and retention efforts for hourly associates, including during peak hiring periods. 
  • Partner with operational leaders to deliver a positive, consistent employee lifecycle experience. 
  • Collaborate with HR and Operations on process improvements and the rollout of HR programs. 
  • Assist with the development, maintenance, and documentation of HR policies, procedures, and standard operating procedures. 
  • Coordinate safety orientations, training sessions, and safety talks for new and existing employees. 
  • Support hazard identification, workplace inspections, ergonomic assessments, and corrective action planning. 
  • Assist with incident reporting, investigations, WSIB case management, PDA, JHA, modified duties monitoring, and compliance follow-up. 
  • Participate in JHSC meetings and support the implementation and maintenance of safety programs. 
  • Monitor compliance with safety legislation, internal policies, and procedures. 
  • Provide general administrative support to both Human Resources and Safety functions. 

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Diploma or degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience). 
  • Health & Safety certifications preferred (e.g., OHSA Certifications) 
  • 1–2 years of experience in HR and/or Health & Safety, preferably in a supply chain or warehouse environment. 
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and accuracy in documentation. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment. 
  • Flexible to support varying shift schedules as needed. 
  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn health and safety legislation, incident reporting, and compliance processes. 
  • Interest in professional growth within both HR and Health & Safety disciplines.  

*This is a new position introduced to support current business requirements.
Salary Range: $50,000–$60,000 a year / The final agreed upon salary may vary based on factors such as job-related knowledge, skills and experience.
