TITLE OF JOB: Instructional Technology Assistant (Elementary)

QUALIFICATIONS: Applicant must be highly qualified which requires one of the following:

Associate degree or higher

48 hours college credit

Successful paraprofessional test

Additional Requirements:

Bilingual Preferred (English – Spanish);

Possess, or obtain, Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification; and if applicable;

REPORTS TO: Building Principal

JOB GOAL: Supports elementary students with technology-focused special area classes, managing the technology lab, and assisting with the integration of digital tools that enhance learning. This position plays a key role in building foundational technology skills, digital citizenship, and creative problem-solving for students in grades K–5.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Instructional Support:

● Lead and supervise technology specials classes for K–5 students using district-approved curriculum and digital learning tools.

● Implement lessons that introduce students to keyboarding, coding basics, digital citizenship, multimedia projects, and responsible technology use.

● Support classroom teachers by reinforcing technology skills aligned to grade-level standards and instructional goals.

● Differentiate activities to meet diverse student needs and foster engagement and creativity. Technology & Lab Management:

● Manage daily operations of the computer lab, technology classroom, or makerspace.

● Maintain, organize, and inventory hardware including computers, tablets, robotics kits, audio/visual tools, and interactive technologies.

● Troubleshoot basic technical issues and submit work orders when advanced support is required.

● Ensure equipment is used safely, responsibly, and in accordance with district policies. Student Supervision & Support:

● Provide positive, proactive supervision to ensure a safe, inclusive learning environment.

● Reinforce behavioral expectations and support students in building independence with technology use.

● Assist students individually or in small groups to complete technology-based tasks or projects. Collaboration & Communication:

● Collaborate with teachers, instructional coaches, and administrators to support schoolwide technology initiatives.

● Communicate effectively with staff regarding schedules, student progress, and classroom needs.

● Participate in school-level professional learning related to instructional technology and digital tools. Compliance & Professionalism:

● Follow district policies related to student safety, technology use, and data privacy.

● Maintain professional conduct, confidentiality, and positive relationships with students, staff, and families.

● Perform other duties as assigned to support school operations.

● Assist staff and students if applicable in implementing IEP's as developed, fostering a supportive learning environment.

● Provide direct support to students in individual and group activities as per their abilities and needs under teacher instruction.

● Reinforce instruction delivered by teachers.

● Record keeping if applicable – maintain records of student progress and behavior relevant to IEP goals.

● Possess or obtain CPI certification.

● Clerical work

● Assist students with adaptive needs if necessary.

● Be able to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.

● Perform assigned building and grounds duties.

● Attending appropriate building and district in-service training.

● Be able to take directions from your supervisor.

● Professionalism and confidentiality at all times.

● Follow through on all OT/PT lessons if applicable.

● Assist students in moving about the campus if necessary.

● Work closely with the school nurse as needed.

● Assist in bus loading and unloading if applicable.

● Perform all other duties as assigned by Building Principal.

● Provide personal care assistance when needed based on student needs, including but not limited to feeding, toileting, diapering, wiping/cleaning after restroom use, and mobility support. These duties are required for students who are not able to perform them independently, in accordance with district policies and classroom expectations

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

● The employee is required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.

● The employee must lift and/or move up to 25 pounds regularly.

● The employee must lift and/or move 25-50 pounds occasionally depending on assignment.

EVALUATION:

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with BOE policy.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Salary is established by salary schedule.

This position description for Instructional Technology Assistant (Elementary) is effective upon receipt. Personnel policies adopted by the Board of Education, and deemed appropriate for the job, shall be in effect. Salary amounts shall be set according to the adopted salary schedule. This position description may be revised at any time in response to district needs.
