Job DetailsJob Location: Maryville, IL 62062Position Type: Full Time (80 Hours)Salary Range: $ $51.97 HourlyJob Shift: VariesJob Summary:  Assumes responsibility and accountability for day to day functions regarding the safe provision of patient care for in the department. Ensures all work in the department meets regulatory, professional, and specialty standards/requirements.  Assist in administration functions of planning, coordination, supervision and evaluation of personnel and outcomes. Responsible for assuring staff is competent to accomplish the assigned duties. Assist the Department Director in the fiscal accountability for department budget. Assist the Department Director in promoting professional autonomy and growth among all staff. Assist the Departmental Director to provides an environment for collaboration with other departments and assure efficient and effective work output is completed.  Participates in other multidisciplinary teams to achieve and promote the Hospital's mission and goals.
Job Responsibilities:
1.    Demonstrates knowledge of processes and procedures in the department.
2.    Demonstrates computer skills and technical competency.
3.    Assist the Department Director in the development and implementation of performance improvement activities, including monitoring, evaluating and developing action plans. 
4.    Assist the Department Director in offers of employment, termination of employment, and conduct performance evaluations and/or counselings. 
5.    Establishes and maintains unit staffing.
6.    Assist the Department Director in the delivery of cost effective care by maximizing staff productivity and utilizing resources appropriately through the maintenance of monthly departmental staff schedules.
7.    Provides for educational needs of staff including orientation, inservices, and skills competency with the assistance of the Surgical Services Educator.
8.    Supports staff involvement in decision making, departmental activities and participation in meetings.
9.    Supports research and evidence-based practices.
10.    Participates in continuing education and professional development activities.
11.    Seeks additional knowledge and skills appropriate to the practice setting by developing and/or participating in educational programs and activities, conferences, professional meetings, and self-directed learning.
12.    Shares knowledge and skills with departmental staff and others, acting as a role model/mentor.
13.    Utilizes effective communication skills in interactions with employees, customers and peers and promotes teamwork.
14.    Assumes responsibilities for other duties assigned by the Director of Surgical Services.
15.    Exhibits responsibility for departmental and personal work schedules. Accepts flexible scheduling whenever necessary. Performs call duties if needed
16.    Knowledgeable of Joint Commission, AAMI and other regulatory standards and develops and revises unit policies utilizing those standards. Acts as a resource for other hospital departments using high level disinfection and sterilization in interpretation of those standards.
17.    Validates time and attendance records.
 
QualificationsEducation Requirements and Other Requirements:
Education Level: RN, Surgery Tech with CST, or previous experience in Sterile Processing with a CRCST required (or within 6 months of hire). High School Diploma/equivalent  required,  Bachelor's Degree preferred.
Experience in Sterile Processing or Operating Room will be considered in lieu of education.    
    
Certification/Licensure: Certified Registered Central Service Technician required or within 6 months of hire. Membership in AMII required.
Experience Requirements:  Five years central service experience of which 2 years were in a lead, supervisory or management position required. Effective communication skills.  Working knowledge of sterile technique and regulatory processes.  Computer and budget skills preferred.
