We are seeking a diligent Shipping Clerk to join our vibrant logistics team in Virginia Beach, Virginia. The Shipping Clerk plays a critical role in ensuring that all outgoing shipments are processed accurately, efficiently, and according to company and carrier standards. This position requires excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to problem-solving within a fast-paced distribution environment.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare shipping labels and documentation accurately for all outgoing packages.
- Verify shipment contents against orders to ensure accuracy before dispatch.
- Coordinate with carriers to schedule pickups and track shipments.
- Operate shipping software and equipment, such as scales and printers.
- Inspect packages for damage before shipping and report any issues.
- Maintain organized shipping records and files.
- Communicate effectively with internal teams and external partners regarding shipment status.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies, including the proper use of PPE.
- Assist with other warehouse duties as needed, which may involve some Lifting.
- Support the seamless operation of our logistics department.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; some college or vocational training is a plus.
- Proven experience as a Shipping Clerk or in a related logistics/administrative role.
- Proficiency in using computers and shipping software (e.g., UPS WorldShip, FedEx Ship Manager).
- Excellent data entry and organizational skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Understanding of shipping procedures and carrier requirements.
- Awareness of safety practices, including wearing appropriate PPE.
- Capability to handle occasional Lifting of packages up to 30 lbs.
