We are seeking a dedicated Receiving Clerk to join our team in Virginia Beach, Virginia. In this role, you will be responsible for the accurate and efficient receiving of all incoming goods. This includes unloading shipments, verifying contents against purchase orders, inspecting for damages, and properly documenting all received items into our system. Your attention to detail and organizational skills are vital to maintaining the integrity of our inventory and ensuring a smooth start to our logistics process. Responsibilities:
- Unload incoming shipments from trucks and other transport vehicles.
- Verify the accuracy of received goods against invoices, purchase orders, and packing lists.
- Inspect all incoming merchandise for damage, defects, or shortages.
- Document discrepancies and damages, and report them to the appropriate personnel.
- Accurately enter receiving data into the inventory management system.
- Label and stage received goods for put-away or distribution.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe receiving area.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, including the proper use of PPE.
- Communicate effectively with vendors, drivers, and internal departments.
- Assist with other warehouse duties as needed, contributing to the overall logistics operations.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a warehouse receiving role or as a general laborer is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in counting and documentation.
- Ability to read and interpret shipping documents and purchase orders.
- Basic computer skills, including data entry experience.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, such as Lifting and moving boxes weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Good organizational and time management skills.
- Commitment to safety and the correct use of required PPE.
- Effective communication skills.
