We are seeking an organized and efficient Receiving Clerk to join our team in Grand Rapids, Michigan. In this critical role, you will be the first point of contact for incoming goods, ensuring that all shipments are accurately received, inspected, and processed into our inventory system. Your attention to detail will be paramount in verifying quantities, checking for damages, and maintaining organized receiving areas. This position is fundamental to our logistics operations, ensuring that our supply chain starts with accuracy and efficiency. Responsibilities:
- Receive, unload, and unpack incoming shipments from various carriers.
- Verify incoming merchandise against purchase orders and packing slips for accuracy in quantity and item details.
- Inspect goods for any damage or defects, documenting and reporting any discrepancies.
- Enter receiving data into the Warehouse Management System (WMS) accurately and promptly.
- Tag and label received items appropriately for inventory tracking.
- Organize and maintain the receiving area to ensure a clean, safe, and efficient workspace.
- Stage received goods for put-away by other warehouse personnel.
- Communicate with vendors and internal departments regarding receiving discrepancies or issues.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, including the proper use of PPE.
- Assist with inventory counts and other warehouse tasks as needed.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a Receiving Clerk or in a similar warehouse receiving role is preferred.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and verification.
- Ability to read and understand shipping documents and purchase orders.
- Basic computer proficiency, including experience with WMS or inventory software.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including Lifting and moving packages up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods and work in a fast-paced logistics environment.
- Commitment to safety and the use of required PPE.
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Team player mentality with the ability to work independently.
