We are looking for a dedicated Material Handler to support our operations in Washington, D.C. This role is essential for managing the movement of goods within our distribution center. You will be responsible for receiving, identifying, stocking, picking, and preparing materials for shipment. A keen eye for detail and a strong work ethic are necessary to ensure accuracy and efficiency in all tasks. This position requires physical stamina and a commitment to upholding high standards of safety and organization.
Responsibilities:
- Receive incoming shipments, verify contents against purchase orders, and document any discrepancies.
- Sort, label, and stock materials in designated warehouse locations using appropriate equipment.
- Pick and pack orders accurately based on pick lists or order forms.
- Prepare outgoing shipments, ensuring proper packaging, labeling, and staging.
- Operate manual pallet jacks and other material handling equipment as needed.
- Conduct regular inventory counts and assist in maintaining inventory accuracy.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment, adhering to all safety regulations and company policies, including the mandatory use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Assist with general warehouse duties as assigned, contributing to the overall logistics efficiency.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a warehouse or material handling role is preferred.
- Ability to perform tasks requiring frequent bending, stooping, and lifting up to 40 lbs.
- Understanding of basic warehouse procedures and inventory control.
- Familiarity with safety procedures and best practices in a logistics setting.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
