Principal Structural Engineer

As a Principal Structural Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in designing and analyzing complex steel structures. Your expertise will support submarine builds through advanced engineering techniques. Here’s what you can expect:

• Design & Analysis: Utilize Eurocodes, British Standards, and BAE standards to conduct FEA and classical calculations.
• Regulatory Expertise: Apply your knowledge of regulations beyond BAE Systems, including LOLER, Codes of Compliance, and Weld Specifications.
• Data Interpretation: Use computer-based analytical techniques, including finite element analysis and CAD modeling (Abaqus, S-Frame).
• Manufacturing Support: Assist in the manufacturing, assembly, lifting, handling, and installation processes of submarine structures.
• Technical Outputs: Produce concept drawings, layouts, and other technical documents to meet contractual requirements and deadlines.
• Quality Assurance: Check and approve calculations to ensure accuracy and compliance.

Essential:

• BEng/MEng in Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Chartered Engineer (CEng) or Incorporated Engineer (IEng) status, or nearing CEng status.
• Expertise in structural steel analysis and design.
• Fully conversant with Eurocodes and British Standards.
• Competent in reviewing and checking design outputs.
• Strong background in mechanical engineering and structural steelwork, with knowledge of lifting handling and LOLER.

Desirable:

• Familiarity with ABAQUS, S-Frame, NX, MathCAD, and Excel.
• Previous experience in a production or marine production environment.

As a Principal Structural Engineer, you will collaborate with a dynamic team of designers and engineers.
