Your Mission:As a Principal Structural Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in designing and analyzing complex steel structures that support submarine builds. Here’s what you’ll be doing:
- Design & Analysis: Utilize Eurocodes, British Standards, and BAE standards to conduct FEA and classical calculations.
- Regulatory Expertise: Apply your knowledge of regulations beyond BAE Systems, including LOLER and Codes of Compliance.
- Data Interpretation: Use advanced analytical techniques, including finite element analysis and CAD modeling (Abaqus, S-Frame).
- Support Manufacturing: Assist in the manufacturing, assembly, lifting, handling, and installation of submarine structures.
- Technical Outputs: Produce concept drawings and layouts that meet contractual requirements, deadlines, and budget constraints.
- Quality Assurance: Check and approve calculations to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Essential:
- BEng/MEng in Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) or Incorporated Engineer (IEng) status, or nearing CEng status.
- Expertise in structural steel analysis and design.
- Fully conversant with Eurocodes and British Standards.
- Competent in reviewing and checking design outputs.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering, structural steelwork, and lifting handling (LOLER).
Desirable:
- Familiarity with ABAQUS, S-Frame, NX, MathCAD, and Excel.
- Experience in a production or marine production environment.

As part of our rapidly growing team, you will collaborate with both designers and engineers. Your role will involve conducting engineering assessments to support the build process and working closely with the design team to develop equipment and provide operational support for safety-critical systems. Relocation support is available for eligible candidates across all Submarine roles.
