What Data Science contributes to Cardinal Health The Data & Analytics Function manages the analytics life-cycle, providing critical insights that drive business decisions and enhance competitive advantage. This department oversees analytic data platforms, designs and implements reporting/business intelligence solutions, and applies advanced quantitative modeling. Data Science employs scientific methodologies and tools to extract insights from large data sets and solve complex business challenges. At Cardinal Health's Artificial Intelligence Center of Excellence (AI CoE), we are at the forefront of healthcare innovation through Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (AI). Our mission is to harness data to develop groundbreaking solutions that improve patient outcomes and optimize operations. We are looking for a driven and experienced Lead Data Scientist to join our team as a visionary and architect of our AI initiatives. You will play a pivotal role in delivering impactful solutions that drive meaningful change. Responsibilities Develop Innovative AI Solutions: Design, implement, and scale sophisticated AI applications to tackle key challenges in the healthcare sector, drawing on your expertise in Machine Learning, Generative AI, and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) technologies.
Create advanced ML models for applications such as forecasting, classification, and risk prediction.
Utilize state-of-the-art Generative AI technologies, including Large Language Models (LLMs), for tasks like summarization, generation, and data extraction.
Build efficient RAG systems that integrate LLMs with extensive healthcare and business data to ensure precision and relevance in outputs.
Shape Our AI Vision: Collaborate with stakeholders across the organization to identify needs and translate them into actionable AI-driven solutions.
Champion AI within Cardinal Health, influencing our technology strategy and alignment with corporate objectives.
Guide a team of Data Scientists and ML Engineers, offering technical leadership, mentorship, and fostering a collaborative environment that promotes innovation and continuous learning.
Promote a Culture of AI: Encourage data-driven decision-making, leveraging AI insights to enhance business outcomes and improve patient care.
Qualifications 8-12 years of experience, with at least 4 years in data science focused on developing and deploying complex AI/ML solutions.
Preferred Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
Expertise in Generative AI concepts, including proficiency with LLMs, RAG technologies, and vector databases.
Hands-on experience building production-ready Generative AI applications using RAGs and LLMs.
Knowledge of healthcare data, including clinical, demographic, and claims data, along with familiarity with HIPAA regulations.
Experience with cloud platforms like Google Cloud Platform (GCP) for data processing, model development, and deployment.
A proven ability to lead data science projects and communicate complex concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
Proficiency in Python and popular ML libraries such as Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, and PyTorch.
Experience with building end-to-end ML pipelines, deploying and maintaining model solutions in production.
Familiarity with RESTful APIs and integrating ML models with existing systems.
Understanding of software engineering best practices and Agile methodologies.
Knowledge of DevSecOps principles and best practices in coding standards and security considerations.

Anticipated salary range:
$121,600 - $173,700 Bonus eligible:
