Sir Robert McAlpine is thrilled to announce our involvement in a groundbreaking project: a state-of-the-art gigafactory that stands at the forefront of the UK's green industrial revolution. This transformative initiative will see the design and construction of a 15GWh lithium-ion battery manufacturing facility, along with essential ancillary buildings and extensive site-wide infrastructure.
Once completed, this facility will be one of the largest battery production sites in the UK, poised to supply half of the country's projected automotive battery needs by the early 2030s. To support this ambitious project, we are expanding our commercial team and seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to collaborate closely with our project controls team.

The Commercial Manager Role - Project ControlsAs our ideal candidate, you will:
- Be a recognized Commercial Manager with a strong commercial awareness focused on profit and cash flow.
- Have prior experience with CM or PM projects, particularly with NEC contracts.
- Manage a range of commercial aspects , including procurement, tendering, contract administration, variations, and subcontract management through to final accounts.
- Negotiate and agree on compensation events with clients while maintaining strong relationships.
- Resolve payment issues and disallowed costs effectively.
- Deputize for the Project Commercial Director as needed.
- Minimize risk and cost while maximizing value through diligent cost checking and analysis of labor, plant, and materials.
- Bring broad construction industry experience across various sectors and markets in commercial roles with main contracting organizations.
- Proven track record in commercial management for major construction projects.
- Strong client-facing experience with exceptional negotiation and communication skills.
- Expert understanding of contract law, procurement, and financial management.
- Strategic thinker capable of analyzing complex financial data and providing commercial insights.
- Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related field.
- Familiarity with NEC contracts and prior experience in CM or PM roles within the construction industry.
