Location: Barrow-In-Furness (Hybrid) – Enjoy a flexible work environment with 2 days onsite every fortnight and 1 day a week at Filton, depending on business needs.
Salary: Up to £57,500, tailored to your skills and experience.
Your Mission:As a Principal Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping innovative electrical engineering solutions. Here’s what you’ll be doing:
- Crafting design solutions that meet time, cost, and quality benchmarks aligned with project milestones.
- Managing requirements and acceptance criteria for systems and products, ensuring they meet our high standards.
- Understanding contractual and performance requirements, supporting design, build, integration, installation, and commissioning activities.
- Producing essential documentation for design reviews, including diagrams, technical specifications, and justifications.
- Providing technical support throughout the acceptance process, from supplier equipment to customer system acceptance.
- Estimating scope and resources for bids and project planning, ensuring we’re always prepared.
- Supporting Certificate of Design activities and presenting complex technical arguments clearly and logically.
- Delivering technical input and engineering solutions for build activities, defect resolution, and change management.
We’re looking for someone with:
- A BEng (Hons) / MEng or equivalent, with CEng status or the ability to meet CEng requirements.
- Demonstrable experience in the engineering lifecycle.
- Knowledge in areas such as power system modelling, generators, switchgear, protection, or power electronics.
- In-depth understanding of Power System Architecture, Power Generation and Distribution, and Protection and Co-ordination.
- Significant knowledge of AC and DC electrical power systems.
- Experience working within relevant engineering roles adhering to industry codes and standards.
