Systems Administrator Advisor
Ensure the safety and security of our nation as a Systems Administrator Advisor at GDIT. As the Systems Administrator Advisor, you will help ensure today is safe and tomorrow is smarter. Our work depends on the Systems Administrator Advisor joining our team to lead a mission critical team that supports the deployment of systems and capabilities centered on our comprehensive motion imagery software suite. The selected Systems Administrator Advisor will work a shift to support 24/7 operations alongside various teams and focus on ensuring the mission is met while upgrading to cutting-edge technologies in full motion video (FMV) of the programs technical vision. How Systems Administrator will make an impact: Maintains an organization's computer systems' workflows and is responsible for the upkeep, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems, including fixing network issues along with updating equipment and software Develops advanced technical solutions for the management of networks, software, hardware, configurations, and architectures Troubleshoots highly complex system hardware and software issues Develops training materials for end users on the proper use of hardware and software Develops implementation plans for software installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages Monitors and tunes systems to achieve optimum performance levels Ensures workstation/server data integrity by implementing standard software and hardware solutions Leads efforts to ensure data/media recoverability by following a schedule of system backups and database archive operations Conducts advanced hardware and software audits of workstations and servers to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines Develops performance and security plans for computers that meet the needs of network users Evaluates existing systems and plans long-term strategies Support analysts performing Full Motion Video TCPED and various phases of exploitation Report information through weekly site communications group meetings, weekly status reports, and monthly logs to team members and management Dashboard creation and analytic monitoring using either Splunk or Elastic Stack Work with the customer's network engineering group, as needed, to resolve any networking or firewall issue. Work with the GDIT systems engineering group, as needed, to resolve any system issue. Support GDIT factory reach back helpdesk in solving daily user issues. Support sandboxed site operations (warehouse) by verifying OSes have patch updates applied and system backups are working, etc.). Become an expert in understanding daily operations, networks, and systems. What you'll need to succeed: Skilled at applying and executing highly advanced technologies, principles, theories and concepts Proficient understanding and application of engineering principles, concepts, practices, and standards Demonstrated ability to communicate issues, impacts, and corrective actions Demonstrated ability to easily and effectively communicate project topics to a diverse audience Demonstrated ability to clearly report relevant information Demonstrated ability to anticipate technology, process, and skill needs What you bring to the table: A Bachelor's of Science in Engineering, a related specialized area or field and a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience or a Master's degree and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience Proven problem-solving skills in complex environments This position is for 1st shift: 6:00am-4:00pm Location: At Customer Site near Tyson Corner GDIT is your place: 401K with company match Comprehensive health and wellness packages Internal mobility team dedicated to helping you own your career Professional growth opportunities including paid education and certifications Cutting-edge technology you can learn from Rest and recharge with paid vacation and holidays The likely salary range for this position is $136,000 - $184,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
