The Annapurna Labs team at Amazon Web Services (AWS) is pioneering the development of AWS Neuron, a software development kit designed to enhance deep learning and GenAI workloads on Amazon's custom machine learning accelerators, Inferentia and Trainium. As part of the Acceleration Kernel Library team, we focus on maximizing performance for AWS's ML accelerators. Our engineers operate at the hardware-software interface to craft high-performance kernels for ML functions, ensuring efficient utilization of resources to meet our customers' demanding workloads. By merging deep hardware knowledge with ML expertise, we redefine the potential of AI acceleration. This position offers the chance to work on transformative products at the crossroads of machine learning, high-performance computing, and distributed systems. You will lead the design and implementation of essential features, engage in pioneering research, and guide a talented team of engineers. We maintain an agile team environment focused on innovation and customer success. Key Responsibilities: Lead the design and implementation of high-performance compute kernels for ML operations utilizing the Neuron architecture. Analyze and optimize kernel performance across various generations of Neuron hardware. Conduct thorough performance assessments using profiling tools to identify and address bottlenecks. Implement compiler optimizations, such as fusion, sharding, tiling, and scheduling. Engage directly with customers to enable and enhance their ML models on AWS accelerators. Collaborate with teams to develop innovative kernel optimization strategies. A Typical Day: Design and code solutions to improve software architecture efficiency. Create metrics and implement automation to enhance processes and resolve software defects. Deliver impactful solutions to a vast customer base. Participate in design discussions, code reviews, and communications with various stakeholders. Work cross-functionally to influence business decisions with your technical insights. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS 3+ years of experience in engineering team management. 7+ years of hands-on experience within engineering teams. 3+ years of experience in designing or architecting systems. 8+ years of experience leading the development of multi-tier web services. Familiarity with the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle. Experience working with product or program management teams. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Strong communication skills with experience interacting with users and various technical teams. Proven experience in recruiting, mentoring, and managing engineering teams.
