Overview GovCIO is seeking a skilled Data Infrastructure Operations Lead to take charge of Infrastructure & Data Center architecture. This role involves providing technical leadership and maintaining data center operations for genomic workloads, emphasizing HPC, Imaging, and AI-Large Language Models (LLM). This is a fully remote position. Responsibilities The Data Infrastructure Operations Lead will be at the forefront of architecting, designing, developing, and implementing modern enterprise and cloud-based infrastructure and platform solutions. You will tackle complex infrastructure challenges that span on-premises and cloud environments, crafting innovative solutions to enhance researchers' experiences. Your responsibilities include: Leading the design and construction of data centers tailored for next-generation computing capabilities. Executing routine system administration tasks, troubleshooting high availability systems, optimizing performance, and deploying GPU resources. Implementing automation techniques to streamline operations. Designing infrastructure and network solutions to support genomic workloads and AI efforts. Ensuring adherence to security best practices in all aspects of data center operations, platform architecture, and infrastructure design. Qualifications To be successful, candidates should possess: A Bachelor's degree and 15+ years of relevant experience. Extensive experience in data center architecture and design. Familiarity with data center rack and stack procedures. Proficient network design experience, especially in a hybrid ecosystem. A strong understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle and agile methodologies. Expertise in Infrastructure Architecture, particularly in on-premises, with cloud experience (AWS, Azure) being a plus. Experience architecting GPU and HPC systems for genomic processing and AI workloads. Knowledge of virtualization techniques and hypervisor operation. MLOps and DevSecOps experience is advantageous. Experience in creating secure and scalable infrastructure for web, data, and back-end applications. Familiarity with IaaS and PaaS components, particularly in hybrid and public/gov cloud settings. Understanding of distributed data systems and AI workload infrastructure. Knowledge of GPU virtualization and management across bare-metal and virtualized environments. In-depth knowledge of network, server, and storage design in a scalable, fault-tolerant model. A broad understanding of on-premises and cloud infrastructure, including network services and management. Experience designing and implementing IaaS and PaaS for on-premises environments. Familiarity with IaC (Infrastructure as Code) and automation tools such as Terraform. Preferred Skills and Experience Experience designing and building high-computing data centers for genomic workloads, covering AI, Imaging, HPC, and operational applications. Ability to create secure and highly available infrastructure architectures across multiple data centers. Expertise in network design, including firewalls and routers. Collaboration skills to work with Application and Data Architects to meet security and data requirements. Experience architecting high-performance computing clusters capable of executing extensive genomics pipelines. Posted Salary Range The salary for this role is expected to range between USD $150,000.00 and USD $170,000.00 per year, depending on various factors such as experience and market location.
