Summary: Meta is seeking a skilled and proactive engineer to join our Edge and Network Services team. This team plays a critical role in managing and advancing one of the world's most extensive and sophisticated networks. As automation is essential to scaling our operations, you will help shape our strategies for designing and managing networks that support AI/ML applications. This position offers you a unique opportunity to engage in all facets of global networking at Meta. Required Skills: As a Network Engineer focusing on Foundation Services Automation, your responsibilities will include: Leading initiatives to improve efficiency through enhanced tooling for Backbone, Edge, and Optical networks.
Collaborating with internal and cross-functional teams to define and automate effective workflows for network pre-deployment tasks.
Integrating automation into current tooling ecosystems for planning and pre-deployment activities such as design bootstrapping, EDP generation, and BOM creation.
Identifying gaps affecting multiple teams, devising execution plans, driving project implementation, and influencing other teams to adopt changes.
Partnering with teams to understand their challenges, providing native solutions or leading initiatives with cross-functional groups to develop systems/platforms/tooling.
Working alongside developers and program managers to design and prioritize tooling enhancements and fixes.
Contributing to roadmapping activities to address major challenges.
Assisting with the recruiting and onboarding of new team members, mentoring them for a swift acclimatization to our environment.
Conducting detailed troubleshooting and collaborating with cross-functional teams to resolve system/tooling issues.
Gathering requirements with cross-functional teams to synchronize our internal tooling efforts.
Facilitating team efficiency by identifying and addressing bottlenecks.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
A minimum of 10 years of automation experience in large-scale networking environments.
Proficient knowledge of Optical, Layer 2, and Layer 3 technologies.
Strong experience in Python programming.
Familiarity with REST APIs.
Understanding of Linux OS and networking principles.
Experience with network devices such as routers, switches, and load balancers.
Ability to thrive in a global team environment that operates in a fast-paced and dynamic setting with minimal supervision.
Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree or advanced studies in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
Experience in developing or managing distributed systems at scale.
Exposure to a technology-agnostic approach in engineering practices.
Proficiency in languages such as C, C++, Go, or Rust.
Public Compensation: $162,000/year to $227,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits. Industry:
