About Remerge

Remerge is a social video app that creates compilations of individual and shared experiences. Users contribute hidden video clips to a group over time, and the app automatically compiles them into a shared highlight reel of memories. You can think of it as opening a digital time-capsule of your experiences. It's a new, time-based social platform built around anticipation and authenticity. There are no filters or editing, just real memories collected over days, weeks, nights, and moments that matter.

The MVP is complete and preparing to launch this month. Your role is to partner with the founder to refine the product, stabilize performance, ship features, and evolve Remerge into a viral, scalable platform for Gen-Z and young Millennials.

Remerge is managed as a modern tech startup with strong product vision, brand identity, financial modeling, early investor pipeline development, and operational structure, and is focused on rapid traction, user metrics, forming partnerships, and seed fundraising.

About the Role

Remerge is looking for a Founding Full-Stack Mobile App Engineer based in Austin, Texas. This is an
equity-only, part-time role with flexible hours
, ideal for someone who wants meaningful ownership in a startup and who enjoys building on their own schedule while directly influencing product direction.

You will collaborate closely with the founder, becoming the
technical product lead for the Remerge platform
, managing everything from UI polish to backend performance, video handling, data pipelines, and feature expansion.

What You Will Do

• Maintain and evolve the existing React Native application, ensuring smooth cross-platform behavior, visual polish, and improved performance
• Design and ship new features post-launch (messaging, reactions, custom profile features, new mechanics and integrations, etc.)
• Own and manage front-end and back-end development including API integrations, authentication, onboarding, video compression/storage logic, database performance, and push notification workflows (Firebase, OneSignal, social APIs, etc.)
• Improve app stability, crash rates, and platform-specific performance using profiling, Crashlytics, and feedback tools
• Translate Figma UI/UX updates into a cleaner, more intuitive interface and iterate based on user testing and analytics
• Manage hosting setup, environment deployment, media delivery, and backend scaling as user volume increases
• Implement analytics and reporting to track retention, engagement, churn, and virality
• Collaborate directly with the founder to define technical priorities, sprint cycles, release timelines, and a product roadmap
• Help make long-term architecture decisions that will shape how the product scales, monetizes, and diversifies into future feature groups (ambassadors, premium subscription layers, partnerships, and more)

What We're Looking For

• Previous experience developing
  React Native
  apps for iOS/Android
• Strong understanding of JavaScript/TypeScript, async workflows, component logic, and state handling
• Experience with Firebase or AWS database design, indexing, performance, and data security
• Ability to own full-stack feature development end-to-end
• Ability to integrate REST APIs, authentication, and media handling
• Strong experience with push notifications, video or media upload logic, and storage/CDN optimization
• Git/GitHub proficiency, version control, branching discipline, commit documentation
• Strong collaboration mindset, proactive communication, consistent work ethic, and product ownership attitude
• Must reside in Austin, Texas (or a surrounding area within a 30-mile radius)

Bonus Points

• Experience with mobile UX animations, creative UI polish, gesture interactions, Figma
• Experience with various analytics tools (Firebase Analytics, Amplitude, Mixpanel)
• Experience with moderation engines or AI/ML API integrations (Hive, OpenAI, etc.)
• Ability to contribute new design ideas, not just implement them
• Past experience with media platforms, camera/video apps, or social networking apps

Role Alignment with the Founder

Founder handles:

• Fundraising, investor relations, product vision, operating agreements, cost management, branding, user acquisition, legal oversight, recruiting, customer support, policies, and growth strategy

Engineer handles:

• Core development, UI/UX builds, tech infrastructure, hosting, databases, API management, testing/debugging, performance optimization, deployment, and overall technical execution

Shared:

• Feature brainstorming, long-term roadmap planning, UX testing loops, data-driven design decisions, moderation system strategy, and community/product storytelling

Success in This Role Looks Like

Within first 30–90 days, you will:

• Identify and remove major crashes or bottlenecks
• Polish UI/UX consistency and behavior between devices
• Ship multiple post-launch feature upgrades
• Strengthen backend media + notification flows
• Improve app analytics to understand retention, DAU/MAU, engagement, and virality patterns
• Consistently hit sprint goals through collaborative prioritization with the founder

Compensation

Equity only during early traction and iteration phase. Once the initial fundraising goal is met- salary + ongoing equity vesting applies.

Location

Austin, TX — Hybrid, but must be in Austin for collaboration, reviews, and founder alignment. Meeting in-person is
required at least once per week.
