The Research & Development Data Scientist Associate plays a crucial role in planning, developing, and executing data science analyses for research projects at the ETS Research Institute. This position emphasizes applying advanced data science techniques, machine learning, and AI to derive meaningful insights and predictions from data. Proficiency in modern frameworks and cloud computing is essential for supporting pioneering research in educational measurement and assessment. Primary Responsibilities Technical Responsibilities: Collect, preprocess, and manage structured and unstructured data from various sources while ensuring data quality and integrity.
Conduct exploratory data analysis to uncover trends, patterns, and actionable insights.
Model Development and Evaluation: Design, implement, and validate predictive models and machine-learning algorithms using tools such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, and Scikit-learn.
Experiment with large language models and generative AI techniques to support innovative research applications.
Deployment and Scalability: Develop and maintain model deployment pipelines in cloud environments (e.g., AWS, Azure) to ensure scalability and reproducibility.
Research and Collaboration: Collaborate with scientists and cross-functional teams to ensure alignment of data science efforts with project goals.
Contribute to technical reports, presentations, and publications to share research findings effectively.
Communicate complex technical concepts to diverse stakeholders, both technical and non-technical.
Qualifications: Demonstrable proficiency in Python and/or R for data analysis and modeling.
Hands-on experience with machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch and TensorFlow.
Familiarity with generative AI methodologies and their practical applications.
Strong understanding of statistical methods, experimental design, and data visualization techniques.
Experience working in cloud environments (e.g., AWS) for model deployment and data processing.
Excellent problem-solving skills with a flexible approach to changing research priorities.
Effective written and verbal communication skills, adapting to various audiences.
Exceptional attention to detail, ensuring high accuracy and reliability in data work.

The base salary range reflects the anticipated compensation for this role, which will be finalized based on experience, skills, and geographic location.
