Opportunity Overview: Join our dynamic Data Platform team as a Senior Data Solutions Engineer, where you will take charge of designing and delivering scalable, reliable, and governed data pipelines that drive analytics, operations, and clinical intelligence at Cohere Health. This role is perfect for an engineer who is passionate about tackling complex data challenges, nurturing talent, and elevating engineering standards while supporting robust platform growth. What you'll do: Lead the design and execution of sophisticated data pipelines and infrastructure across various domains. Mentor and guide junior engineers, sharing your knowledge and raising the engineering standards across the team. Implement and uphold data quality, schema validation, and observability practices to ensure reliable data outputs. Contribute to architectural discussions and evaluate tools to enhance platform scalability and governance. Write clean, maintainable, and testable code in Python and SQL, adhering to best practices in version control, CI/CD, and comprehensive documentation. Optimize and monitor production workflows with tools like Airflow, dbt, Athena, EMR, Kafka, and Iceberg/Parquet. Collaborate closely with cross-functional stakeholders (analytics, product, compliance) to ensure that technical solutions align with business needs. Participate in on-call rotations to support critical platform jobs and minimize operational disruptions. Promote a culture of excellence, accountability, and ongoing improvement through code reviews, documentation, and knowledge sharing. What you'll need: 5+ years of experience in data engineering or software development with a strong emphasis on data infrastructure. Expertise in Python and SQL, applying software engineering rigor to data workflows (including testing, version control, and observability). Hands-on experience with contemporary data tools such as Airflow, dbt, and AWS (EMR, Athena, S3), along with Iceberg, Parquet, and Kafka. Proven success in designing and delivering large-scale, reliable data infrastructure projects. Experience in building and maintaining production-grade systems using APIs. A strong background in mentoring engineers and elevating team standards through code reviews, documentation, and knowledge exchange. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, agile environment, collaborating effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Prior experience with healthcare data (claims, eligibility, clinical, EHR) is highly preferred. Understanding of data security, privacy, and compliance practices (such as HIPAA) in pipeline and platform design. A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related field. Pay & Perks: This is a fully remote opportunity with about 5% travel. The salary range for this position is $130,000 to $170,000 annually, as part of a total benefits package that includes health insurance, 401k, and bonuses.
