About the role
We are seeking an experienced HR Project Manager to lead the end-to-end implementation of Rippling across HR, Payroll, Benefits, Time & Attendance, Performance Management, and related modules. This role partners closely with HR, IT, Finance, Operations, and external vendors to deliver a compliant, scalable HRIS solution that supports business growth and operational efficiency.
The ideal candidate brings strong project governance, hands-on HRIS implementation experience (preferably Rippling), and deep understanding of California employment and payroll requirements.
What you'll do
Project Leadership & Delivery
Own the full HRIS implementation project lifecycle : discovery, design, configuration, testing, data migration, go-live, and post-implementation stabilization
Develop and manage detailed project plans, timelines, risks, dependencies, and milestones
Serve as one of the primary points of contact between internal stakeholders and Rippling implementation consultants
Drive cross-functional alignment and decision-making across HR, Payroll, Benefits, Finance, IT, and Operations
Rippling & HRIS Implementation
Lead configuration and deployment of Rippling modules, including (as applicable):
Core HR
Payroll (multi-state with CA focus)
Benefits administration
Time & attendance
Device management / app integrations
Ensure accurate data migration from legacy systems and validate payroll, benefits, and timekeeping calculations
Oversee integrations with accounting, IT, and third-party systems
Compliance & Risk Management
Ensure system configuration aligns with California wage and hour laws, paid sick leave, meal/rest periods, overtime rules, and reporting requirements
Partner with HR to confirm compliance with federal, state, and local employment regulations
Identify and mitigate project risks, scope creep, and compliance gaps
Change Management & Enablement
Develop communication, training, and adoption strategies to support HR teams, managers, and employees
Create documentation, SOPs, and user guides
Support user acceptance testing (UAT) and issue resolution
Post-Implementation Support
Lead hypercare period and transition to steady-state ownership
Identify optimization opportunities and future enhancements
Establish ongoing governance, metrics, and system health monitoring
Qualifications
Required
• 5+ years of HRIS or HCM project management experience
• 2+ years leading full-cycle HRIS implementations
• Hands-on Rippling implementation experience strongly preferred
• Strong knowledge of payroll, benefits, and HR operations
• Experience supporting California-based employee populations
• Proven ability to manage cross-functional stakeholders and vendor partners
• Excellent communication, documentation, and change management skills
Preferred
• PMP, Agile, or comparable project management certification
• Experience with multi-state or high-growth environments
• Background in HR, Payroll, or People Operations
• Experience implementing HRIS in remote or distributed workforces
Technical Skills
• Rippling (Core HR, Payroll, Benefits, Time & Attendance)
• HRIS data migration and system integrations
• Payroll and benefits administration platforms
• Project management tools (Asana, Smartsheet, Jira, etc.)
• Advanced Excel / data validation skills

The pay range for this role is:
125,000 - 165,000 USD per year(Glendale, CA)
