The Cyber Defense - Installation to Edge team at MITRE is looking for a technical leader to modernize and synchronize the Department of the Air Force's (DAF) Identity, Credential, and Access Management (ICAM) ecosystem. You will play a key role in designing, integrating, and operationalizing resilient, data-informed identity solutions aligned with the Department of War's Zero Trust Reference Architecture to enhance DAF mission readiness, agility, and decision advantage. This position serves as the technical focal point and team integrator for DAF ICAM, collaborating with MITRE, industry partners, and government Sponsors to translate Zero Trust strategy into executable technical roadmaps leading to mission-aligned outcomes. We seek candidates with acquisition systems engineering experience and deep identity expertise. Your work will ensure that MITRE meets rigorous technical standards, delivering measurable operational and enterprise value across Air Force networks. Key Responsibilities: Lead technical efforts and teams in executing analyses and proof of concepts across enterprise, mission, and tactical environments, focusing on identity services, authentication and authorization services, PKI enhancements, federated identity, and access governance. Drive a unified approach to ICAM and data governance, ecosystem management, and platform integration, including solutions like Okta and SailPoint, to enable consistent, interoperable, and secure modernization. Coordinate closely with ongoing Zero Trust and enterprise modernization initiatives to maintain strategic alignment, and engage in regular on-site collaboration with sponsors and mission partners to ensure shared situational awareness and impact. Basic Qualifications: A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in complex technical or mission environments with a Bachelor's degree in electrical or computer engineering, cybersecurity, or a related field; or 3 years with a Master's degree; or a PhD with relevant experience capable of immediate contribution; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience. Active Secret clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) clearance. You must be a U.S. Citizen to be considered for a security clearance. In-depth understanding of defensive cyber strategies and their implementation, including DAF acquisition processes, Systems Engineering, and DoW ZT Reference Architecture. Extensive knowledge of PKI and ICAM technologies and familiarity with AF Enterprise networks. Ability to differentiate between authentication and authorization, and apply NIST Cybersecurity Frameworks and associated DoW guidance. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, capable of translating complex technical findings into clear, actionable insights. Proven track record of achieving significant technical outcomes through leadership, project execution, or stakeholder collaboration. This position requires a minimum of 4 days per week on-site. Preferred Qualifications: Active TS/SCI clearance. Understanding of current DAF PKI and ICAM implementations. Familiarity with commercial solutions like Okta and/or SailPoint. This position requires the candidate to have a minimum of the following clearance(s): Secret. This position requires the hired candidate to obtain, within one year from the date of hire, the following clearance(s): Top Secret/SCI. Salary compensation range: $129,200 - $161,500 - $193,800 Annual. Work Location Type: Onsite.
