Duties
- Assist dentists during a variety of treatment procedures, including restorative, endodontic, surgery, prosthodontic, and pediatric dentistry cases
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental tools, and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly using infection control protocols and aseptic techniques
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays), including 3D scans, while maintaining strict adherence to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy
- Manage patient records electronically using Dentrix and Dental Intelligence, ensuring accurate documentation of medical history, dental procedures, and medical coding
- Support front desk operations as a dental receptionist by scheduling appointments, updating medical records, and assisting with insurance processing
- Maintain a clean and organized clinic environment following infection control standards and anatomy knowledge to prevent cross-contamination
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Dental Assistant in a busy dental clinic setting with knowledge of general dentistry procedures. DA II preferred
- Familiarity with EMR systems such as Dentrix is a plus
- Strong understanding of dental terminology, medical terminology, and anatomy relevant to dentistry
- Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently in both four-handed dentistry setups and pediatric dentistry environments
- Competence in taking X-rays (including digital X-ray technology) and operating 3D scanners for advanced imaging needs
- Knowledge of infection control practices, aseptic techniques, and sterilization procedures to ensure patient safety
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with patients of all ages
- Ability to handle medical documentation accurately while maintaining confidentiality under HIPAA guidelines
