Job Summary:

The patient service representative plays a crucial role in delivering excellent patient care by managing front desk operations, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance, and ensuring a positive patient experience.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Greet and check in patients with professionalism and courtesy.
  • Registration, load insurance, verify referrals, collect copay and balances.
  • Scheduling of office visits and outpatient diagnostic testing.
  • Assist Physicians and staff in scheduling patients.
  • Manage incoming hospital requests according to set protocol.
  • Key player and participant in alerting and assisting entire building of emergencies.
  • Assist patients with directions to all office locations.
  • Take messages when required and maintain said records of all communications
  • Follow all established scheduling protocol as provided by the Supervisor.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality according to HIPAA regulations
  • Represent our Practice and Facility to referring Physicians, patients and all other callers, in a positive and pleasant manner.
  • Serve as a liaison between patients, providers, and clinical teams to ensure seamless patient flow.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor to support the needs of the practice and ensure optimal patient care.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to multi-task, problem solve, and prioritize tasks based on urgency.
  • Excellent usage of Multi phone line system and heavy computer use.
  • Friendly and professional customer service skills in person and on the phone.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and communicate effectively with others.
  • Flexibility, promptness and desire to be a team player.
  • Excellent organizational, oral and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail with emphasis on accuracy and efficiency.
  • Adhere to business casual dress code as set by SDCA.
  • Must have flexibility in work schedule.
  • Patient facing role.
  • Must have ability to travel to any office location assigned for that day.

Education and Experience:

  • Must have high school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Medical office experience preferred

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to assist with adult patient in emergencies as needed
  • Lifting requirements do not exceed 25 pounds
